Last night, we were invited to a "banger" (as Dominic put it). Dominic had some people over to celebrate his parent's trip to Alaska (which means... they weren't there). There was a Keg - a number of underaged kids - representatives from two rival grocery stores and about 3 trays of Jello shots.
In between Barbie and I almost finishing a whole tray of Jello shots, there were discussions of frozen food, Joe Mal, Produce and a number of other grocery store topics. Don't hate because you didn't work at Safeway. Just kidding. I look back now and Thank who-ever-it-is-that-may-be-looking-down-on-us for giving me my first job as a check out girl and meeting my little Ry-Guy. But thank myself now for realizing shortly there after that discussions of Mangos and Cantelope would not rule my life forever - and getting out before I fell into the "safeway for life" category. Granted - working at my current company is not my dream job - nor where I see myself ten years from now, but at least I've moved on. To all you Safewayers (and Acme reps) keep those shelves fronted, those strawberries fresh and the freezer windows un-smeared, and for the love of Safeway, don't forget to ask the customers if they need help out witht heir bags.
It was a fairly enjoyable party. A bit awkward when we only knew a few of the people - not to mention half the kids were underage and there was a visit from the neighbor next door who simply adivsed Dominic to "keep the young ones inside". But Dominic was a lovely host with what was apparently "delicious dip" and some of the most fabulous crinkle cut chips in the world (not to mention the Champagne).
I look forward to bonding with him again in the near future. Perhaps him, Barbie and I can take another trip to the place where the "magic happens" and see where it takes us.
Until then... good bye.
