As the days pass and we get closer and closer to May, I can't help but notice that the wedding is slowly becoming everything I am. I mean, don't get me wrong, this isn't exactly a BAD thing... but I fear it may eventually drive some people crazy.
When I'm online I am constantly searching for wedding related items, whether it be favors, attire, gifts, etc. I just can't get enough of it!
This weekend was no different.
On Saturday me and Meghan went up to order her dress at Jennifer's Bridal in Hockessin. We discussed options for the flower girl dress with the ladies and then did an early lunch at the Border Cafe (including Margarita's at 11:00am). Following lunch we did some heavey shoe shopping. I was on a mission. We checked the mall, DSW and this amazing place off of 202 (the M-something Designer Shoes - or something I forget). While I had no luck finding myself shoes, I did happen to locate a pair for Ryan's suit and a "bridal bag" for all of my day-of needs.
Upon returning home Meghan and I spent what seemed like minutes (but in reality was probably hours) searching the internet for all things wedding. We purchase a couple of little doo-dads which I'll be sure to photograph and blog about when they come in.
On Sunday it was pretty much the same. Wedding Wedding Wedding. We were supposed to work on our invitation surprise, but brother Bryan was very much hung over from our evening of drinking before, so he wasn't up for it. Instead Ryan and I start to check some small items off of our list. First we did some attendant gift shopping (only being successful at purchasing the flower girl gift). Other than Kennedy's gift we didn't find much but we did start to put together some ideas to look for in other places.
Still not having any further plans for the day we decided to get our rings engraved. I had this vision that it was pretty much the norm for people to "surprise" one another with a sweet message in their on the day of the wedding that they will cherish forever. Apparently I was wrong. When we got there I wanted us to both write down our message and give it to the engraver and not see it until the wedding day, but he was pretty much like "alright you two, what are we writting". He threw out suggetions like each others names, the date, etc. But that all seemed too cliche for me so I wrote down my idea and left Ryan to fend for himself. He snuck a peak at my "I love you my love" and decided a simple "ditto" would do the trick. So romantic.
Keeping with the theme of the day we went to Men's Wearhouse for Ryan's suit fitting. Now, I'm sure not all the guys are going to want the intense alterations on their suit, but since Ryan is the groom and will probably have more eyes on him then the groomsmen I decided to get them done (not to mention this will probably be one of the few suits he'll ever purchase - so why not make it nice). He required a little taking in of the jacket, shortening of the sleeves, a hem on the pants, some extra space in the waist and a number of other adjustments. He was extremely uncomfortable while the male tailor was grabbing at him - but he trucked on through.
To complete my otherwise successful day we decided to hit up a trip to the movies. I saw "27 Dresses" with Meghan and Barbie while Ryan went to see "I am Legend". I loved the movie, so cute. A perfect end to the weekend!
(sorry - this got much longer then I expected)
