Billy Joel

It started out to be the typical "Ryan and Alicia" time. We have a tendancy to think things are under control and then at the last minute be like "oh shoot". I thought I knew right were the tickets were up until I actually went to grab them. But I didn't. Luckily we got it resolved fairly quickly and were on our way!

After a pretty long drive, we were in Pittsburgh and walking into the Mellon Arena! It was a really great show. Billy Joel was super funny (making jokes about not putting out an albuma nd still having fans, divorcing his wife after writting love songs about her, and how the "young Billy Joel was at home and this was Billy's father - whom is much older with a lot less hair playing for him"). Not only was it a great show, but there wasn't a bad seat in the house. The Mellon Arena is a hockey arena and so there are seats that go all around the center open area. he was set up to the end closest to us, and the area that his piano was actually turned while he played in order for EVERYONE to see him equally. It was really neat.

He played the classics and a few others to jazz things up. Ryan got to hear "Allen Town" and "Captain Jack" (not to mention "Piano Man" of course) so he felt ful-filled when he left.

If it wasn't for the obnoxious drunken idiots in front of us I could have said it was a perfect show.

Afterwards, we had talked about staying the night, but thought we'd try to drive home. We got about 45 minutes into the drive and determined that pulling off into a hotel was our best bet. It was nice, because then we were able to enjoy our drive home together this morning/afternoon.

Ryan had worked a lot this past week and is going in for her hernia operation this Monday, so it was nice to spend a little time alone with him driving in the near flawless weather!

On the agenda for tomorrow: Rehearsal invitations!
