So, since I've been keeping this whole thing under wrap, there might be a lot that people are wondering about:
1. Due date: april 29th 2009 (If I go late, I could have the baby on our anniversary)
2. I'm currently 12 weeks and about 2 days pregnant.
3. I took the pregnancy test the Wednesday before Meghan's dad's wedding at the beach. That was the first month we had really been trying to conceive and I didn't want to drink that weekend if I were in fact pregnant and wanted to give myself time to soak it in before leaving for the weekend. I bought a 3 pack assuming that I was not pregnant but I ended up going through them all "just to confirm"
4. According to all the information I've read, the baby is between 2 and 3 inches big/long however you phrase it. People like to compare the size of the baby to fruit, but some same this phase compares you to a plum, others say a lemon or lime and still others are on the side of the peach. So, I'll just stick with my inch estimates. The important thing is that for the most part all of the main parts have formed now and will pretty much just continue to grow and refine over the next 6+ months
5. When we heard the heart beat on Wednesday it was 159BPM which the doctor said was good/normal.
6. There are a number of tests you can take to screen for downsyndrome and some other things that Ryan and I declined taking. We decided there's not much we could do about it now and there's a high chance of a false positive. The doctor is the one who actually said it's for the best not to do it as it's just extra worrying.
7. The baby will be born at Christiana Hospital. I switched doctors shortly after I found out I was pregnant because my previous doctor works out of Crozier and we wanted to be at Christiana.
8. This will be the first grandchild on both my mom and dad's side and the first great-grandchild on my dad's side.
9. If it's a boy we currently plan to name him Jude Michael if it's a girl it will be either Logan or Laurie Marie. Michael is Ryan's dad's name and Marie is his mom's middle name.
10. We WILL find out the sex of the baby around week 18 or 20 at the first and only ultrasound.
11. I have maybe gained 1 or 2 pounds since I found out I was pregnant. These numbers are based off of a fully-clothed version of me and since I found out in August (tank tops and shorts) and was last weighed while wearing jeans and dessert-trecks, there's a big margin for error.
12. I've read that the more weight you gain in your first trimester the heavier the baby is likely to be at birth. I'm hoping #11 above helps me out a lot 6 months from now!
