I believe I blogged before that I was getting the crib while my mom was up visiting a few weeks ago. However, we did so much other baby shopping that we put the crib off for a little bit. The room hadn’t even been started at that point, so we had plenty of time. Well, yesterday Ryan and I went up and ordered the crib and it should be here in about two weeks! Before we ordered it we walked around a bit just to be certain we were ordering the crib that we really wanted – I’m certain that it’s my favorite of the options. Hopefully we’ll be able to go back up in the next few weeks and order the dresser that goes with it – but we still have a little time for that.
While we were at babies ‘r us last night I remembered there were a few things I still wanted to add to the registry so we got a little gun thinger and went to town. I hadn’t really added any bedding to the registry originally because we were waiting to figure out colors, etc in the room before picking it all out. Also originally I didn’t put too many toys on the registry, but Ryan seemed to only be interested in the toys (in particular a little drum). So, we made a pit stop in the toy section for a little bit and added a couple of items. I’m pretty sure he won’t be able to use them right away, but after a few months he’ll probably be ready for most of them.
Finally we made a stop in the feeding area. For any of you who have been in this specific area you’ll know that it can be overwhelming. The first time I went up to register I was overwhelmed by bottle options, sippy cups, pacifiers, nursing supplies, bottle warmers, washing supplies and so much more (like do I need a sterilizer???). I’m still not 100% sure that I’m registered for everything I need in that area, but we’ll see when he comes what else I may need. However, while we were there, we saw the breast pump selection.
I had been saying up until last night that I planned to breastfeed Jude until I go back to work. At which point I planned to switch over to formula and let my puppies dry up until the next round. Ryan on the other hand is a big advocate of “if it’s free, why switch to formula?”. I think he was under the impression that you can just pump all you want, have a life time supply and feed it to the baby as needed. I explained to him that your body needs to be on a schedule and that I’d need to pump randomly through the day (including during work). He seemed a little more understanding after me explaining it to him a little more, but we decided to add a pump to the registry anyway. If someone gets it for me I’ll probably try pumping for awhile to see if it works for me (or if I decide I don’t want to I can always return it for one of the other millions of things we need). If not, he and I can discuss it further when the time comes and possibly purchase it ourselves. I plan to discuss it more with my doctor at my appointment today to see what she has to say on the topic.
As a treat for Ryan’s cooperation we went to Deerhead for dinner because he loves their hot dogs. A lovely and productive evening.
