CASH FOR GOLD!!

We've ALL seen the ads on TV "YOUR GOLD FOR CASH!" and all the hub-bub. I never really bought into it - and sure as hell wouldn't be mailing my possibly valuable goods off to some company in east ja-bib never to hear from them again.

Well, part of my 101 was to really clean out my closet and dresser and that included my jewelry drawer too. I had a pile of boxes that have been slowly accumulating over the last however many years. I'd get random pieces from my grandmother for Christmas or a little birthday gift from the parents here and there that are obviously the Macy's 19.99 special (we all know about the two tier round tables in the middle of the fine jewelry section...).

Sometimes when I'd get these items I'd say something like "oh! I just LOVE the green gem (we all know it's not an emerald) - it will go so well with X shirt or X purse". Really in the back of your head you're thinking "oh goodness! gag me!".

Other time I'd think it's something I could really potentially wear - but just never really did. So all these items that had been accumulating in my dresser needed to be liquidated. I was just going to throw most of it into the goodwill pile (or even the trash) but having just had seen one of those "cash for gold!" signs I thought I'd take it to the store around the corner.

I'm pretty glad I did! While most of it was cheap and not worth anything, some of it was in face real gold or sterling silver and I walked away with a good $65 for it! Not a whole heck of a lot, but much better than a pile of worthless boxes in my bedroom!
