Tonight, I had one of my few choice times away from Jude. Typically if I'm not with him, I'm working.
I was invited to attend a "girls night out dinner" at Texas Roadhouse and accepted. I was invited by Barbie to dine with a few people that she knew. All of these woman have children within a few weeks of one another, so I was kind of the "odd man out" with the 4 month old. I had met all but one of these ladies previously and think they're all very nice.
In addition to just enjoying their company (and the food), it's very interesting listening to them talk about their little guys and gals. First of all, it's amazing to hear how different everyone's parenting style is. For the most part they all do something (or things) that are on the "non-conventional" side of things, but everyone picks and choses what works for them and it's great.
Secondly, it's interesting to hear about some of the things still to come. Jude has already grown so much over the last 4 months, but there is still a lot ahead.
Finally, hearing how different all these children are is amazing. Everyone grows and matures at different rates, with each of them doing one thing best. It's amazing how different people and children are.
In conclusion, it was a very nice evening. I came home to a sleeping baby - even though I enjoy putting him to sleep it was nice to walk in the door and have nothing that really needed to be done.
