Question: are you going to acknowledge Grandparents Day this year? (no pressure).
Answer: I really don't like cards. I never remember to buy them... when I do, I feel like it's such a waste. The first time I remember buying a card specifically for something that was int he near future was for father's day and Ryan's birthday. I knew that I would be having Jude in the near future and so I'd need to acknowledge the two days in one way or another. I wasn't exactly sure how long I'd be feeling the after math of my delivery so I wanted to prepare myself. I didn't exactly want to get gifts, so while shopping one day I just swung by the card section.
That being said, one of my "101" is to send someone a card. So, maybe I'll do it for grandparent's day. For the most part though, I dislike any of those types of holidays... I mean up until this year the thought of mother's day and father's day was ridiculous to me... and even now I don't want to care (I just kind of do...). It just seems like a total ploy by the card/candy/flower companies to suck another dollar out of you. For example I sometimes care about Valentine's day... but really I know it's a total waste. As much as people complain about money and being poor, why not just save those pennies (or 5.00+ that you can spend on a card) and get your finances in order?
Actually though, up until now I was unaware that there even was a grandparents day, so that doesn't say much for the thought going into it... we'll see.
