Tonight, Ryan and I took the plunge and gave Jude his first solid food!
We had every intention of starting with Rice cereal but instead started with a veggie. We first gave him Butternut Squash! Not too long ago Ryan and I decided that the first night/time we had together without me going to work or Ryan doing side work, we'd give Jude solids. Well, schedules kept conflicting and the one free day we had, we spent running errands and just being busy. So, we just went for it tonight.
Jude seemed.... interested.
I plan to basically let him feed himself a little and so did some thick mashing of the squash and let him go at his own pace. The first bit I fed him myself to get an idea of what was happening and then let him run his hands through it, grabbing bits and pieces and sticking them in his mouth. Ryan video recorded the whole thing with narration. As he gets the idea of what's happening I will probably be cooking his fruits and veggies in larger, softer pieces for him to "Gum" on his own... but thought this was a nice seg way into him acquiring a taste.
He in no way finished what was in front of him and made a bit of a mess, but it was fun and exciting to have him getting started! Now I'm eager to get through the waiting period of testing for an allergic reaction to start adding new foods, combining items and adding herbs and spices!!!

We took the plunge...
Pretty early on in the process. He liked the new taste of his thumb:
