This Thanksgiving was no different that any other. Ryan and I both wanted to relax, but of course we had a number of houses to hit.
We compromised a little though to not have to carry Jude everywhere. We started the morning making a small breakfast and just hanging around. Ryan had planned to work some more on rewiring the house, but after about an hour I convinced him to just stop and do it the next day. So, he got to play with Jude while I made a little Thanksgiving appetizer to take to my grandparents.
After bouncing around the house we decided that instead of both of us going to his parents he would go and I would head over to my grandparent's house with the munchkin. I felt bad not visiting with them, but it really made the most sense. So we parted ways.
Ryan arrived at my g-parents just in time for our 3:00 meal and it was oh so yummy! Perhaps even better than the food was the desserts! Usually we have your typical Sara Lee pies, but this year, not so much. I made a fudge brownie cheesecake that was (IMO) to die for. Also, my cousin Michael's friend works at an italian style bakery and brought some amazing cream puffs and canoli's - yummmm.
Usually after finishing dinner we go to my dad's mom's house for dessert. I was quite obviously too sweetened up to eat anything there, but we socialized for awhile and then headed home with a very sleepy, very cranky almost-7-month-old. He hadn't napped more than 15 minutes here and there all day.
Even though it was kind of a busy day, we got home around 7:00 and spent a little alone time cuddling on the couch. It was a nice end to the day.
It's my home that one year, I'll cook Thanksgiving dinner and we will vow not to leave the house all day.
I took a few photos during the day which I'll post in a separate blog later... I know I've been slacking on the pictures.

Gobble Gobble Go Go Go
Question: What do you do to celebrate Thanksgiving? Do you like the running around or prefer to stay home and relax?

normally we do 2 dinners, ugh! One is more of a lunch, then the second right at dinner time. This year, however, was different. We did breakfast with my family then dinner with my in-laws. It was extremely nice and "chill". I made 2 side dishes and 1 dessert for dinner - which i enjoyed!
I dont MIND "running around" but part of me looks forward to the day when we just stay home. Not sure if that day will ever come, though.
