He's Turning into a Little Boy

Jude's Aunt Katy usually refers to Jude as "little boy". Without fail, almost every time she sees him, at some point I hear her transform into 'baby talk voice', scrunch up her face the way people do when they're talking to children and say something like "hello there little boy!". Usually following this comment, Jude will giggle or put on his bashful smile or just grin from ear to ear. Even without this interaction, Jude is usually mesmerized by Katy and Bryan. Maybe it's the bright colored clothes, the fact they buy him gifts, the familiar voices that date back to before he was born, or just that he sees them all the time. Either way, Jude loves his Uncle Bryan and Aunt Katy.

But that's not the point. The point is "little boy". Little Boy.

When I think of little boys, I think of kids running around causing a ruckus, playing in the dirt with toy trucks and shovels. I don't instantly think of my precious little baby.

But the truth is, he's turning into a little boy. Aside from the fact that he throws blocks, attacks any electrical cord he can find and with one mini tantrum can turn me from being sane into blissfully insane, he's starting to LOOK like a little boy. His hair's getting thicker, he's filling out, features are becoming more prominent and he's starting to gain balance. He can play on his knees like a champ and motor skills are getting refined.

Today I put him in his bumbo chair while I was in the shower and he just didn't look quite right. He feet touched the floor and all of his moving made me nervous that he'd fall out. The same chair that just months ago he sometimes looked lost in.

He's growing up. Perhaps a little too quickly for me.

I loved watching the boys interact on Sunday night. He's definitely transforming out of the baby phase and into the little boy stage of life. It's so cute!
