Holidays (Part 2)

Ryan and I made the decision that our Christmas Day would not be spent in a car. We decided that we'd spend very little time away from home and would get any running out of the way early on.

We woke up on Jude's demand in the morning and I was thrilled to bring him downstairs to open his gifts. MomMom and PopPop T. spent the night, so they were there that morning and their gifts were under the tree too.

He got two books and a set of blocks from Ryan and I, and a sprig truck from 'santa'. MomMom and PopPop T had given him an area rug for his room a couple of moths ago, but got him a couple of cute little toys for him to open.

After presents, some play time and breakfast we took a quick trip to see Ryan's niece and nephew and then to my grandmom's house to see her. I was making Christmas dinner, so we didn't have much time to spend away from home.

I had planned to make turkey and all the fixin's, but decided at the last minute to make meatballs and homemade spaghetti sauce instead. I must say it was a great idea. We invited everyone to come over and I was thrilled that there was a surprisingly good turn out.

The day whizzed by us, but it was still enjoyable. Jude slept VERY well that night :)

The best gift he got this year:

Him Playing with it a few days later....

Question: What's the best gift you got/gave this year?

There’s a place called “Second Chance” that opened up down the street from our house that sells gently used kids’ stuff super cheap. We got our son the book “How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?” from there for $2.00. ($17.00 at Barns & Noble!) We’ve read it 302 times everyday since Christmas and he cracks up at certain pages every time. When he starts being a “bad dinosaur” at bedtime, we just say - Would a dinosaur do that? -- and believe it or not, he straitens right up. It’s amazing. Best Gift Ever for just two bucks.

My favorite gift received was cooking books. My favorite given was home made trading cards.
