Weekend with the Boys

This weekend was such a busy one!

I started it by leaving work early on Friday. Ryan and I had to take Zoey to the vet and get a check up, some shots and a couple of other things taken care of. We went to a new vet and they seemed alright. I think i still prefer the VCA in Newark over White Clay Vet. but when the money is right - there's not much you can do.

Next we went to pick up my brothers Scott and Chad for the weekend. Mary and my dad had a viewing to go to, so they needed someone to entertain the kids from Friday into Saturday.

We had to take Chad to football practice on Friday night. There was an adorable little boy who was too young to play who was playing catching with me while Ryan and Scott went to the comic book shop. At that point I really wanted a little kid of my own. He was so happy and adorable.

Let's fast forward to later that evening. Two loud and annoying kids in a restaurant - both wanting the most expensive thing on the menu. Fast forward a little more to them begging Ryan for a sip of his beer - and then wanting to go down to Cumberland Farms for a Red Bull at 11:30. At that point - and so NO children in my future.

But the next day we woke up and took the kids to the park. Ryan had bought a Rocket and him and Scott couldn't wait to set it off in the park. We had one successful luanch and then tried to go for it again a second time, but something was wrong with the ignitor. The boys loved it.

After the park, we went to the beach for the day. Beleive it or not, my brothers have NEVER been to a Delaware beach before. Not to mention I don't think they've ever gone to the beach with just one bag. Anthing less then a wagon full of toys, an umbrella or two, about 6 beach chairs and 3 blankets, followed by 2 towels per person wasn't even close to enough for a full day on the beach. So needless to say it was a new experience for them. They loved how the boardwalk was right on the water - the endless supply of thrasher french fries - the candy, ice cream and so much more. Their experiences in Avalon are the more "small town" type - where there aren't so many men holding hands or mexicans speaking in their native toungue.

It was a fun day. I know they enjoyed playing in the water with Ryan and Ryan enjoyed his August Saturday off. (Ryan had made a deal that he would take at least weekend off a month - and he's been holding to it)

After we dropped the boys off for the night, Ryan and I were in need for some "adult" time. We headed over to Kevin and Barbies for a visit. We made a drink run and a dinner run and back to the house it was. It was nice hanging out - espeicially have being around hte kids all day. Now don't get my wrong, I love the little guys, but it's nice to be able to drop them off at the end of the day and go about with the reckless drinking and other things that you just can't do when the kids are around.

On Sunday I attempted to do a little bit of work on the back yard. My goal is to create a flagstone walk area outside of the back porch. I got about 1/4 of the way done... I'll cross my fingers that I finish it in the near future - if at all. If it goes according to plan I'm also going to plant some small bushes along the fence to seperate ourselves from our neighbors a little. Not to mention I don't see us ever replacing the fence before we leave. It's almost too much to invest in a house that we will be planning on sell shortly after the wedding. However, there's a gap in the fence which the bushes should cover and reduce my fear of Zoey escaping. I'm begining to think I opened a can of worms with this project... but only time will tell.
