"Let them eat cake..."

This past Tuesday I did one of the most delicious parts of the wedding planning. CAKE TESTING!

I arrived at Liz Marden's in Hockessin not REALLY knowing what to expect, but having a rough idea. Well, it was pretty simple. I showed her a couple of pictures I had of cakes I liked, she showed me cakes she had made. We decided on a cake she would like for me. It should end up looking really neat! Not to mention it'll be topped with fresh flowers!

Well, I was all set to try the amazing cakes she had to offer and she pretty much shocked me. She handed us a nicely wrapped bundle with about 5 different cake samples. There was raspberry buttercream, almond buttercream with apricot layering, a simple van. buttercream cake, a milk chocolate mousse and a multi layered white chocolate mousse (with raspberry jam, van. and choc. cake and so much more!). Well, she told us to take the package home and try them at our own leisure and report back to her with what we want each tier of the cake to be.

Well, I didn't even get out of the parking lot before I treated myself to one of the smaller samples - raspberry buttercream. It was AMAZING! I was half tempted to turn the car back around and get a full cake made of the deliciousness!

Then when I got home, we tried the rest. They were all just as good. By Wednesday I had already picked out each tier and was ready to go.

Also in wedding news, I got my invitations last weekend and started addressing them the past couple of nights. There are a few I still need to finish (and while they look ok - I would have prefered hiring a calligrapher - but what can you do?) but I should be done in the near future for mailing Monday.

Exciting. Exciting. Exciting.
