12-21-2012

I was watching the History Channel.

Correction: Ryan was watching the History Channel... I was in the kitchen watching through the window.

To put it lightly - I'm not the religious type. I had heard what christians thought about 2012, but never looked much further.

Tonight they were talking about 2012 in a sense much deeper than "the bible claims it the end of the world". They talked about the Mayan calendar... the "I Chang"... ancient prophets... and the solar alignment that all point to one specific date: 12/21/2012.

I don't want to beleive that in 4 years the world will collapse. I don't want to beleive that in 2012 the magnetic poles will switch dramatically and there will be a series of volcanic erruptions, tsunamis, earthquakes, etc. But for some reason it's really caught my attention.

In reading about it - for "recreational" purposes of course - I've kinda put myself at ease about the whole thing.

Please don't think less of me for being so lame and looking into this more (let alone blogging about it). At least I don't think that God will come down from the heavens and take his select few to a place full of fluffy clouds and golden harps - but then again that sounds much more glamorous then a mixture of burning under hot lava and being trampled by 1,000 foot waves.

Ahhh... Saturday Nights...

i believe it. unfortunately, how do we really know what year it is? weren't the years 666 and 1666 simply skipped?
