My first Post in July...

This past weekend was the glorious 4th of July.

Amazingly enough the 4th fell on a Friday, which also meant that we got a long weekend. Yippee!

To celebrate, Ryan and I had a party at our house. We wanted an all day sort of celebration, so around 12:00 I started putting out the food and waiting for guests. Around 1:30 or so people started trickling in. We did the normal things - fire pit, drinking, eating, grilling, etc. It was a very mellow sort of party with people flowing in an out for the later half of the day.

I enjoyed it.

On Saturday after the big clean up, we went to a co-worker's house for a small BBQ. Very nice - with a delicious Rum Cake to boot. The day didn't end there though, we did lunch and ice cream with K&B and were lucky enough to catch some firework in their backyard (what a lovely backyard it is too).

Sunday was a chance for Ryan and I to spend some much needed time together. Coming back from two weeks on vacation and paying for a wedding meant a lot of work this past month for Ryan (me, not so much). So, the three day weekend was much needed and appreciated. For our time together we had lunch at Boston Market, walked through the mall for niece and nephew gifts, browsed Border's, saw a movie (wall-e) and took a walk in the Glasgow walking park. Since we got an early start, the day seemed to last forever. Once home, we curled up on the couch with our precious pup and watched our netflix movies which had seriously been sitting next to the TV since BEFORE the wedding. (The Departed comes highly recommended).

It was very nice to do all of this as it gave us time to discuss expectations of where we're going in life from here. With our cruise in November and Disney on the horizon, the next few months are sure to be exciting!
