I'm not sure if it was explained in the previous post, but the reason I was sorting through old boxes of stuff was because of my newest house project. I have a tendency to "open a can of worms" when starting what should be a simple project and this time was no different.
While sitting in my living room I decided 2 things.
Thing 1: I was not 100% satisfied with the color of my living room walls. The couch matched but did not match enough the wall that it's on (the "accent wall"). The "lighter" colored walls were just too light. Not to mention the whole room just seemed too neutral - it needs a little color.
Thing 2: I was also not 100% satisfied with the placement/selection of picture I have hanging on the walls. I've added items as they've come along and taken other things away, but because I was running low on touch up paint it's been hard to patch holes and move things the way I would really want it.
So, you might ask "where does this can of worms come into play??". Well, our attic space/second story had a whole heap of work that needs to be done. Starting with the area over the steps which had tile ceilings and the landing at the top of the steps that had paneling and very low ceilings. If I were to re-paint I'd want that area finished to carry the paint up the steps and be done.
Friday night I came home and started this project! We tore down the ceiling, the paneling and the closet on the second story in an attempt to prepare it to be finished.
I plan to build a work space (desk, bookshelf, etc) in the space at the top of the steps and eventually finish 100% both of the rooms up stairs. So I needed to organize our storage. I have boxes and boxes of "stuff" that needs to be thrown away, sold, given away or stored in our crawl space. It really will be a big job and perhaps the first step to re-painting my living room (I told you it was a big can of worms).
