This past Saturday was my Baby Shower! It was not a surprise and it was at my house, so I had been looking forward to it (and hoping it was over already) for quite some time. We had been trying to get the house looking presentable for the past few weeks and it was nice to have a couple of finished rooms to show off for what was really one of the first times we had extended family over.
The morning started off relaxing. I had wrapped up all my chores Friday night and my mom had some errands to run, so I was home alone for a portion of the day. I was able to spend a little time with Buddy, read a book and take my time getting ready. Around 12:00 or so the hostesses started to arrive to set things up, so I of course helped in any way I could. It wasn’t too long until the living room start filling up with LOTS or presents and people! Everyone mingled and ate and I showed off the nursery, etc, etc. All the typical baby shower conversations I’m assuming.
After everyone had a chance to socialize I took my seat of honor around all the gifts and started opening. I felt bad, like I was rushing through things or taking too long, but there was so much to go through and I did it! Once all the gifts were open, people started to shuffle out and we were left to clean up the little bit of mess that was left behind. By early that evening everything was clean and I was left to do the fun part: Going through all the presents and organizing/putting things together in the nursery!!
It was nice to see what all I got so that I could determine what I’d need to get at babies R us before Jude comes. I was lucky enough to have a good amount in gift cards and a handful of returns so Sunday I purchased a good bit of the remaining items off of my registry! I came home with about 4 large bags of baby supplies and got to do the fun organizing part all over again!
Other than the rest of the cloth diapers we’ll be using and our dresser, we have everything we should need to bring a baby into our home (and I’m sure a lot of things we don’t really “need”). The dresser should be in any day now and I’ll be able to organize the rest of his goodies in/on/around it.
