As we are preparing for our first baby "with two legs" (as Ryan likes to say) I get more and more concerned for how Buddy (our baby with 'four' legs) will handle the adjustment. He is for the most part a very mellow and relaxed dog, but there are still obvious signs that he has potential to be extremely jealous.
There was a period of time where I felt like Ryan and I were never home. I would feel terrible walking through the door, letting Buddy outside and then heading right up to bed. He had little to no attention and I thought I could see it getting to him (or maybe I was just making myself feel bad).
Either way, the past few weeks I have been home more and have been trying to give him as much love and attention as I can. It's not uncommon for me to go to bed before Ryan gets home from working at Lowes, so I take that little bit of time with just me and Buddy in bed to cuddle with him and really let him know I care. I just hope that when Jude comes home Buddy will understand what's happening and we'll be able to make enough time for him to feel as loved as he really is!
