After all of my maternity clothes shopping with Katy I was in the mood to go do my registry at Babies R Us on Saturday. I had been mentioning to Ryan that we should do it some time in the near future and we both just kept putting it off. He had no interest in spending hours in a baby-store and I had very little motivation in general. So, being with someone who had baby experience like myself and who was excited when I asked if she wanted to take a trip to Babies R Us I thought it was the perfect time.
I walk in and immediatly though "shoot, I should have brought one of those 'what to have on registry' lists". After sitting down with the girl at the registry desk, I immediatly felt releived. She gave us a run down of how the gun works, how to add/delete things and a list of typical registry items.
We started in the front of the store and slowly worked out way back. The first section was overwhelming with all the bath supplies, boppies, diaper bags, first aid kits, and feeding supplies. There was just SO much stuff in the one department it was hard to focus on just one thing at a time.
Next was a much easier section - the large baby gear items like strollers, car seats, play yards and much more. I already knew which stroller I wanted so it also made my car seat choice much easier (since they had one that matched). As for bouncey seats, play yards, high chairs, etc, it was also simple because they had a whole set in the same fabric that I thought was adorable.
After that we did a few safety items, a walker/saucer thing and some other misc. items. Before we knew it we'd spent over an hour and a half walking through the right had side of the store and decided to take a break on the gliders. It was a great chance to mark off items that we'd already gotten and re-evaluate what we needed to go back for.
We pretty much breezed through the bedding department (I'll have to go back when I figure out what the nursery theme is) and added a few books, movies and other "smart baby" toys before heading back and adding some items we had missed. I was beat by the time we left.
When I checked out, the guy at the desk seemed impressed with our number of registry adds on our first trip but encouraged me to come back in the near future to add more in the categories I skipped.
Here are a few of the items I was excited about!
First, our stroller. I had seen this when I went a few months agot o pick out Barbie's stroller and I thought it was adorable:
Next, is the pattern for the boucey seat, play yard, high chair, swing and much more. It's not AS blue in person - it focuses more on the browns and tans and looks pretty gender neutral (my main reason for picking it!).
Finally! the infamous "boppy". According to my brother's friend Courtney, this is a MUST have item. From what I saw, there were a million different cover options for these, in addition to about 3-4 different brands all with the same general shape and purpose. From what I've gathered it's great for your lap while holding/feeding baby, putting baby inside of while they're watching TV and much more. I hope it lives up to it's expectations!
