Suddenly Much Warmer

Well, it's been almost a week now, so I thought it was time to finally tell you about Bryan and Katy's house warming party/get drunk party! I'll start by saying that we (Ryan and I) have high expectations for this to be "the new 50 Morris" - and it's well on it's way!

A little background: Bryan and Katy have been together for quite some time. They have lived together at our old house, at Katy's parent's house and in their apartment - up until recently. Tempted by the ideal market for first time home buyers and all the tax breaks and incentives that one can get right now, it was more than the perfect time for them to buy! they swindled their way out of their apartment lease and found a great fixer-upper in Newark. the house needed/needs a little TLC, but it's nothing that a little spit shine and hardwork can't fix. The house has the basic character it needs to be an amazing home!

Upon first moving in, Bryan and Katy had family and friends help them with a number of projects and really got the main living areas together rather quickly! So, this past weekend, they had a lot to be proud of and show off at their first party!

It turned out to be the best time for the party. It was one of the first GREAT weather days this spring, so they were able to take advantage of the deck and grill and of course: margarita's. (Oh how I can't wait for one of my own!)

I felt like the party scrooge. I was Bryan's older, married, pregnant sister. Everyone else was having a great time drinking (don't get me wrong, I enjoyed myself!), while I helped with the grilling, talk to other older attendees about children - their wives birthing stories, must have baby gear, dilation and much more.

Ryan on the other hand was able to have himself a good time, without going too overboard (I keep reminding him "any minute now").

Bryan's deck is PERFECTLY placed on his house. It's right off the kitchen and opens to the side yard. They are the last house on their street and so their side yard/deck are right next to the woods. Thus, they have total privacy when they're sitting outside having fun. They'll never have to worry about snoopy neighbors keeping an eye on them or making too much noise.

Not to mention the deck being on the side yard keeps the keg-cooler out of the neighbor's line of vision! (I loved the fluorescent 'cold beer' keg cooler!).

All in all the party was a hit. We met a number of Bryan and Katy's friends and everyone got to see their lovely new home. Perhaps by the next go around I will no long be pregnant and Ryan can be the sober/responsible one who gets to take care of the baby while I let loose a little!
