My thoughts at 4 O'clock in the morning...

I know I've posted before about Jude sleeping well (do I sound like a broken record?). He's slept well since we brought him home for the most part. But tonight was so much different!

Usually Jude doesn't go to sleep for the night until about 10:30pm with us and wakes up around 4:00am (which is shortly before Ryan wakes for work, so is actually a good time). This doesn't exactly fit the normal definition of "sleeping through the night" to most doctors because I think they're looking for a like 7:30 bed time and sleep into the morning... but to the average parents I think that's praise worthy at this age.

Jude has very obvious tired signs. If he's not hungry and he's crying, then it's pretty much guaranteed that he's tired. After a day of nothing but eating (growth spurt?) by 8:00 he was getting fussy. I fed him and did some stuff around the house figuring between now and ten he'd wake up for a final feeding and I'd go to bed. No such luck.

10:00 rolls around and he's still asleep... 11:00 Ryan's more than ready to go to sleep and Jude's still passed out in his pack n' play... 11:30 I decide to stay on the couch until he wakes up and tell Ryan to go upstairs... 12:00 I decide to just fall asleep myself thinking any minute I'll be awake again... 4:00am he can't seriously STILL be asleep??

Thoughts going through my head at that point:

1. Why didn't I put him in his pajamas earlier last night??
2. His poor diaper has got to be getting full - but I don't have the heart to move him.
3. My boobs are full. Five minutes and about 10 ounces later... "ahhhh... much better."
4. Whoever came up with the "sleep while the baby's sleeping" saying couldn't have been a mother.
5. He's still asleep on his stomach from when he was napping - sometimes you just go with what works.

.... and 4:41 am: SOMEONE'S WAKING UP!!
