And while we're catching up...

... let me tell you about a few changes around these parts...

First, our family has gone "vegetarian". I put that in quotes because it's a big change! Ryan is not 100% on board and still eats plenty of meat outside of our home. It's also in quotes because I'm sure there is chicken broth or some other animal based products lurking in some of the other foods we eat more regularly (for example, I recently said good bye to broccoli and cheese soup at panara because of the chicken broth base... and I'm certain that marshmellows have gelatin).

Finally, it's in quotes because I may or may not occasionally eat a chicken quesadilla at Moe's... I'm just saying, when I get a craving... that little spoonful of chicken they provide me with is enough to cure it. But anything more than that is enough to really get me thinking... eating a chicken sandwich no longer provides satisfaction... I start thinking about things and can't finish (trust me, I tried once!).

This 'vegetarian' life style was sparked by a number of things. One, my 101 list... I was supposed to go veg for a month (and have done that). Second, I read a book. Quite frankly the book freaked me out. Even if only half of the information in the book is true, it's enough to make me not want to eat meat. So, we no longer buy meat in our house. I won't judge you if you do, but it's just not for us... anymore.

I have concidered other options outside of the factory farming world though. Apparently there are some local/organic/ethical farms nearby that one can get chicken from. I'm very seriously considering taking a trip to one of these farms and scoping it out. If I feel like it's legit and that the poor little animals are beign treated fairly and not being stuffed with antibiotics... we may be enjoying some very infrequent (and probably expensive) chicken.

But for now... we supplement.
