Quite a few months ago, we dabbled in "elimination communication". After a little bit of time, it trickled off, but we always have had some 'airing out' time for Jude. In this time I would keep an eye on him while running around and sit him on the potty if I felt like it had been awhile since he'd peed. This has been really helpful to have Jude familiar with the potty, what it does and why it's there.
So, I decided to really approach it start potty training. Currently Jude is either running around naked or with his little man panties on when we are at home. There have been two times we've ventured out of the house without a diaper. Once was successful and the other not so much.
Basically if it's him and I, he works well with me to go on the potty when he needs to. He is not yet able to say "I need to go to the bathroom", but when he gets the urge, he usually slows down a bit and starts playing with his little boy bits. When I see this I ask if he has to go potty and sometimes he'll run to the bathroom, or I'll pick him up and take him in. Typically if he has to go, he will, or he'll fight me getting on, which usually means he doesn't have to go.
We have cleaned up our share of pee puddles, but it's still awesome to have about 1/2 the diapers.
Plus, those little boy britchs are just about the cutest thing EVER.
