So, last night I was all relaxed laying on the couch with my hubby working hard getting some over time when my phone starts quacking (Ryan likes ducks, so that's his ring tone - I've never done the assigned ring tone thing, it's fun). Anyway - so my phone starts quacking and of course it's Ryan.
He tells me that he forgot that he had scheduled an appointment with the realtor to get into our soon to be house. Now I tried to have the best attitude possible since he was working hard and I was laying on the couch, but I really didn't want to move. I sucked it up though and met the realtor. We had been asking him since we decided to buy if he could make some time to let us in to get some kitchen measurements and have a second chance to look at the house so we could start planning some of our first projects. In addition we needed to re-check the Ac and furnace before settlement since there were a few problems at the time of inspection. Everything worked fine though which is great and it was exciting to measure some stuff out.
The kitchen layout wasn't EXACTLY as I had remembered it. I mean the cabinets and appliances are right where I remembered, but the one wall will need some re-adjusting when we get in there (we had planned to rip out one of the two pantries, expand one pantry and relocate the fridge to that wall anyway and now I remember why). Either way, I have all of my measurements and can start making rounds and getting estimates from different places on the cost of re-cabineting the kitchen! This was by far my favorite part of remodeling out current home, so I can't wait to do it again. Very exciting!
In addition, being in the construction field has it's perks! The other day one of our vendors were in and I mentioned that Ryan and I would be remodeling with recessed lighting, new ceilings fans, new chandeliers and much more and he gave me a huge book to browse through and said he'd be able to get us a much better deal then if we went to a home improvement store. So I can't wait to start catelog shopping and collecting new items!
Some house pictures:
Our Kitchen which needs some REAL TLC (new cabinets, floors, lighting fixtures, windows, paint, and just some lay out work):
Front door/foyer area (just needs some pait on the walls and a new lighting fixture).
What one would usually consider a 'formal living room'. Not sure what we'll use this space for... I have a vision of a built-in bookcase along the back wall.
Kinda like that but without the wall sconces and perhaps with a few more books.^
The family room off the kitchen - paneling, wall sconces and track lighting to be removed. What this angle doesn't show is the intense puke-green shelving between the kitchen and the living room that WILL be destroyed and used as fire wood. Eventually I hope to get some nice french doors going out to the deck.
Our deck over looking our wooded rear yard. Currently it's surrounded with benches and has no access to the yard - eventually we'll add another layer or two and some steps down to open it up to the yard.
I can't wait to move!
