Perhaps one of the biggest expenses that we'll face once Little Jude or Logan arrive is day care. Obvioiusly there are the costs associated with preparing for him/her in the nursery/throughout the rest of the house, but those are more of an upfront cost. Then of course there is the cost of keeping said child clean, well fed, occupied with toys and clothed, but looking at the costs, it's looking like day care will be that constant weekly expense that will have the most impact on Ryan and I's budget.
In an effort to prepare ourselves as much as possible and try to find the best possible child care available I've been doing a little bit of online research to see what options are local to our home in Newark. Right down the road from our house a new-er day care center recently opened called "alpha kids". As far as location is concerned it could probably be considered the most convenient option out there (unless of course my neighbor would like to watch my kid... or I'm allowed to just sit Jr in my office during the day). I have driven by this location about a million times since we moved and everytime I tell myself "I need to start looking into daycare!" and "I need to give these people a call!"
With the quickly approaching ultrasound next week I've been thinking baby and thought that making the call now was as good of a time as any.
While on the phone I got the rough numbers and some basic information about the center and the lady I spoke with was super nice and seemed eager for me to come in an look at the facility. I figured I have a good 7-9 months before I'll need to utilize day care services (between the rest of my pregnancy and what ever amount of time I decide to take off of work) but getting this expense ironed out as early as possible and getting a spot reserved seems like a good idea. So, this Thursday Ryan and I will be looking at our first day care which should at least help to figure out what aspects we do/do not like and help us get an idea of what we're looking for.
