A few weeks ago I was at the mall and saw little table tents in the food court advertising pet photos with Santa. I immediately though “awww, I should bring Buddy up!”. I think Katy was with me at the time and said she’d love to get photos of her little Marsha as well. So, when making my “to-do” list pet photos was on the list. One reason in particular that I specified pet photos is because even though I will LOVE my Budder-Boy just as much post baby as I do now, I know that at some point our lives will revolve much less around our dog and the cute things he does and more around Jude and the adorable things he does. So, I thought this would be a good year to put all the extra attention on Buddy and get his photo taken with Santa.
I had no real intentions of going last night, but I believe Ryan said something that triggered me to remember that they were doing pet photos that night.
So we asked Buddy if he wanted to get his picture with Santa and you should have seen how excited he got! (really all I said was “wanna go bye bye’s in the big car??” which is the same phrase that made Zoey go crazy and run around the house). Before I knew it he had his leash in his mouth begging me to tie him up and get him in the car.
As we pull in the parking lot, we see that the mall was pretty packed for a Monday night (duh! Weeks away from Christmas), but lucky for us, the Santa line was super short. There were adorable doggies all dressed up all over the place socializing and waiting for their photos. A large/stocky Rottweiler with fluffy Christmas bracelets, little white poodle-looking dogs with jackets and matching leashes, a very skittish German Sheppard with his tail between his legs, a beautiful golden retriever and perhaps the most adorable was the horse-sized St. Bernard.
We get Buddy in line and they have a great little clothes tree full of different doggie decorations. We chose a set of antlers to put on Buddy and sat him in front of the almost-unpleasant Santa Claus. He was such a good boy! He sat down right in front of Santa looked at the camera/camera lady squeaking the little dog toy and SNAP – a perfect photo. He looked adorable.
While we waited for his photo he socialized with the other dogs and soaked up all the attention that the passer-byers gave him. I always like to see how he responds around little kids so it was especially adorable when this tiny little girl came up to give him some lovin’. She seemed a little apprehensive at first, but once she saw he was harmless she pet him and played with him until she lost interest. He loved every minute of it!
