I went into this past weekend thinking that for the most part it’d be pretty laid back. We had some projects we wanted to get done around the house and some errands we wanted to run, but not many set plans of places we really needed to be. Some how however that changed quickly.
Right after work on Friday we had an appointment to refinance our house. I left right from work and went up to the lawyers office where we signed a million papers. It was super exciting to be saving money each money, not to mention we needed about ½ of what we were told we’d need for settlement! Sweet!
Afterwards we went to Olive Garden for dinner. Not thinking that it was Valentines Day weekend (and a Friday night) the place was packed. We decided that while we wait we’d head over to Babies R Us to order the dresser for the nursery. Unfortunately the dresser wasn’t available yet to order, so instead we picked up the mattress for the crib and a couple other small things I needed to start making things come together (storage bins, etc.). Dinner afterwards was AMAZING and we full to the max but we got a call from my brother asking us to join him at Applebee’s for a few drinks – we accepted.
We weren’t there long before heading back to our house where we hung out for the night.
We had a pretty early morning on Saturday with a couple of goals – clean out the garage! Clean the house! And go grocery shopping! Our first task was the garage. We had been demoing random things around the house and storing the broken down wood, old doors and everything else in the garage and I was tired of my 2 car garage being un-enterable (is that a word?). We ended up working on the garage for the whole day and by the end I had no interest in hitting up the grocery store or cleaning. On our last trip to the dump (there were three truck loads total!) we stopped at Deerhead hotdog for a bite to eat and then went to Border’s for some books and sat at home doing nothing on the couch for the rest of the night!
Sunday morning it was back to business. We had gotten some calls earlier in the weekend inviting us to random events later that day so we decided to do the grocery shopping first thing in the AM. Being that we had no food in the house we thought now was the perfect time for a trip to Costco. We were out of the house by about 8:30 and pulling up to Costco at 9am. Unfortunately Costco doesn’t open until 10:00 . Here we thought we were beating the crowd when we pulled up to the empty parking lot, but no, they just weren’t opened. We kept ourselves occupied for an hour and came back at 10:00 to a much busier store. We loaded up on some bulk items and unloaded at home before going to Acme for a few things that you don’t really need 20 pounds of at a time. I think we should be good for at least the next year.
After shopping we went over to Ryan’s friend Rob’s house. His daughter was christened that morning and they were having a small get-together to celebrate. We socialized for a little while before people started to leave and then we stopped by Ryan’s mom’s house to say hi. Afterwards we had a dinner date with our friend Pat (mmm yummy!). By the time we were finishing up there we were ready to go home and sleep! However, I got a call that my dad was at my house so we had one more task before the end of the weekend!
By the time they left I was ready to crash! Hopefully I’ll be able to relax a little this upcoming week before another expectantly busy weekend.
