Our typical night schedule:
Jude will eat regularly until 9:30. Ryan and I will hang out on the couch from 9:30 until he gets fussy again (usually around 11 or 11:30). At this time we will all head upstairs. I'll sit in bed and feed Jude and then once he falls asleep, I'll put him in his pack n' play next to the bed.
During the middle of the night I'll wake up for feedings and diaper changing. All of which is done without me leaving the bed. His pack n' play is right next to the bed and it has a changing table, so it's super convenient.
Last night however, Ryan was tired much earlier on and went to bed around 9:30. So, when Jude's 11:30 feeding came around I just fed him downstairs so I didn't wake Ryan up. After he was passed out in my arms I was all set to head upstairs and get the room ready (put the PNP next to the bed, bring a few diapers in, etc) and instead decided to head into the nursery. Jude had not spent any significant time in his crib and now that he was approaching 1 month I thought now might be a good time to transition.
I layed him down and he didn't even move. I figured it was a good sign. Of course I was super nervous having in the room alone (even though he's RIGHT across the hall from me and I can even see his crib from my bed) so I set up his monitor and layed down - I barely slept. He was awake by 1:30 to be fed and I immediately thought "I wish he was an arms reach away"! But having to get out of bed made me a little more alert for his feeding and it was nice to sit with him in the rocking chair until he fell asleep.
By 3:30 (yes, it was an every 2 hour night) we just brought him into the bedroom, but that was for our own reasons - Jude was doing fine! I hope to try it again tonight. It was nice to be on our way back to a normal sleeping arrangement.
