Question: since you already lost all your baby weight I will assume this is not a touchy subject or an insensitive question: How is the weight loss going now that 2 months have passed?
Answer:
Probably one of the BEST parts about being pregnant was not really worrying about my weight. I was supposed to be gaining weight and being that I started to really show pretty far into my pregnancy, I was eager for people to see that I was pregnant! I of course had fears that I would gain too much weight and never lose it all, but when I looked at my growth I thought it was pretty consistent with where I was supposed to be. I know for a fact that late in my pregnancy I turned into a fatty and almost felt like I was going crazy with the sweets.
After I had Jude I looked at the 30lbs I knew I had gained as my goal of what to lose within a reasonable time (what was reasonable? I had no idea – I assumed 6 months or so). I was shocked to find that it had basically just fell off. I was about 10-15lbs lighter when I got home from the hospital and within a month or so at the high-point of average for me. I was thrilled and hoped the weight would continue to fall off (not quite as quickly, but little bits here and there).
Unfortunately I pretty much leveled out there. Losing a little here, gaining a little there, losing more, etc. I remember about 3 times I weighed myself and I was right around 151 and I go excited that I could cross it off my list. The next time I weighed myself though, I’d be back up near 155. One day I weighed myself and was right under the 150 mark and so I crossed it off. But really, I still fluctuate from 150-157. I try not to really think about it and am very gracious that I’m back to where I am, as some women could only HOPE to lose their baby weight.
I’ll admit though that towards the end of my time off work, I become a snack-aholic. I guess because I had more free time I was grocery shopping more regularly, so we always had snacks in the house. Also being that Jude was getting much better at his eating, feedings no longer too 20-30 minutes, they took 10. So, there was more time between feedings to get things done. Before, I know that I would often compromise my eating for getting chores done because I knew my time was valuable.
Now that I’m back to work, I have a set schedule. I eat breakfast in the AM when I get to work, I eat lunch at X time and we eat dinner soon after work. We don’t eat at late, I don’t eat as often and will probably start to lose a little more.
All in all, I’m pretty happy with where I am. I’m thrilled I fit in my old clothes. But a little piece of me hopes that when I make time to run more or do some more walking I’ll get a little more fit.
