That question gets asked almost constantly in conversations about our chid on the way. Is he excited to be a big brother? I honestly couldn't tell you. We constantly talk about 'the baby' or 'your brother' to Jude. He laughs. He points to his belly, he points to my belly. He points to my boobs and makes it clear that one is for him and one is for 'the baby' (even though he hasn't touched them in months).
When he points to his belly, his daddy asks him how the baby got in the belly he giggles - he thinks it's a game.
Not long ago I started resting his hand on my belly so he could feel the movement. Now, when he sits down next to me he does it out of habit. I'm not sure he gets that the movement is his brother - or if he even pays attention to it... his brother is growing in my belly... and in a matter of months, this brother will totally change his world.
I'm sure as the room starts to get put together, he might have a better idea that someone is coming. I'm sure as my stomach gets better he might have a better idea that there's something really going on it there... but really, he's only two! I don't want to underestimate his thinking, pretend that he is totally clueless and doesn't think about anything beyond water and balls... but to comprehend something as complex as creating life is a bit much for a two year old, don't ya think?
