Better Late Than Never

Earlier this week I had another monthly baby-maker check-up. It was pretty standard and short as usual. I saw my regular doctor. We discussed my progress.

She listened to the heartbeat and said it was right around 150. I'm measuring right on track (this was actually the first appointment my stomach got measured this time around).

When she asked about movement I told her the little bugger doesn't sit still. Unsurprisingly, when she was measuring me and listening to the heartbeat, he was moving around like crazy - so she couldn't help but agree. She was pleased to hear about the movement, because constant movement means these little check ups of ours become less important - to some extent I know if something's not right.

As for my personal health, I'm doing fine. Blood pressure was right on point. I feel great and besides the little waddle I'm starting to notice, I hardly have any side effects to this pregnancy at this point. I have no intense cravings, heartburn hasn't been too terrible and (knock on wood) the gallbladder issues from last time around have yet to surface.

According to the scale I've gained another 9lbs this month to put me at a total of 11lbs for this pregnancy. I told her I attributed most of this weight gain to my trip to the beach (french fries, funnel cake, cotton candy, copious amounts of lemonade and ice cream... ). I know it's not uncommon to have a month where there's just a big jump, but I'm consciously trying not to make 9lbs a month a habit (That could add up to about a 50lb weight gain, if I did - lol).

I'll have my next visit at the beginning of August. At that time I'll have my glucose screening. Also, that will mark the beginning of my visits being every two weeks! Things are really progressing.

As for at home, we've done a little preparing. I recently bought a few new bottles... and we've browsed around babies r us a few times trying to figure out if there's anything else we need (with little progress). But the biggest step has been ordering the crib and dresser and deciding on a nursery 'theme', color and wall design (to be shared later). All of the decorating will hopefully begin this August.
