Getting Set
Over the past year or so, Jude had played in a little program at one soccer club called "Itty Bitty Sports". I was cute, but not quite what I'd hoped for. I wanted structure, learning and games. This was more of a free-for-all, open-gym kind of experience. So, when I saw that Jude qualified for a local soccer program that actually played games, had practices and wore uniforms, I about swooned.
Two Sunday's ago was his first game and it was just what I had expected! Little kids running around the field with barely any idea what to do... other kids running around going right for the goal... other kids having zero interest in the game and paying more attention to their parents. Jude appeared to be one of those in-between-kids. He wanted to play with the ball, but after two and a half years of telling him to share and not take things from other kids, who can blame him for not going after the ball when someone else had it?!?
His second game he had a pretty good first half, but by half time, the fact that he hadn't napped got the best of him. He 'played' a few minutes with a bag of fruit in hand and then was out for the count.
Go J-man!
